Overview of Hemp in Maryland
House Bill 803 passed in 2015 legalizing the Hemp Pilot Program. College campuses were allowed to grow hemp for research beginning in 2016. House Bill 698 was passed in 2018 authorizing the Industrial Hemp Pilot Program in Maryland to facilitate the research of hemp for various fields and purposes.
Hemp was then federally legalized in the 2018 Farm Bill, signed December 20, 2018.
